Calligraphy is an art form requiring a very slow and methodical approach to creating letterforms. Many hours are often put into creating each piece, making it essential to use the right tools! I am always on the hunt for the best calligraphy pens! I am a pen “death gripper”– meaning that I hold on for dear life while writing. This habit came from an incorrect pen grip which I developed during my formative writing years. My handwriting has always been fairly good, but my hand fatigues easily while writing due to how hard I squeeze my pen. I’ve tried in vain over the years to change this habit, but to no avail. But that’s beside the point 😉
My Beloved Calligraphy Ergonomic Oblique Holder
When Sarah with My Beloved Calligraphy contacted me to try one of her custom ergonomic pens, I was so excited! I have been wanting to try an ergonomic oblique holder to see if this might help with my death grip **spoiler alert- it does**. The process was very quick and easy. I took a few measurements, picked my color, and voila! My new pen arrived last week and I have been putting it to good use!

I was so excited to put this pen to good use! During this holiday season, I have several commissions to work on, and often multiple per day. See the pen in action below!
The Details
This pen is a dream to hold. Each pen is made to order using a resin 3D printer. They’re inspected for quality assurance and finished by hand. The pen fits my hand perfectly and I am so happy to report that my hand is much more comfortable after writing than usual. The two pieces I’ve posted here were penned with a Zebra G nib, but I have tried a blue pumpkin and it worked wonderfully as well!
