I’m so excited to kick off this brand new blog with a fresh set of free printable calligraphy practice sheets! So hi y’all! Keep reading to find out more!

A Little Bit About Me
Hello to all of you who don’t know me yet! My name is Michelle and I’m addicted to modern calligraphy ;). Seriously. As so many of us have been, I was in search of a fulfilling mental escape during the past year of COVID lockdowns. I have always been a lover of stationary and words. In fact, I had been an admirer of calligraphy for several years– and had even attempted some faux calligraphy at one point (very badly– see exhibit A).

Thankfully, through the help of multiple tutorials and classes, I was able to progress past that point ;). After mastering the basic strokes with brush pens (thank you Becca with The Happy Ever Crafter), I picked up a pointed pen (dip pen, nib pen– pick your verbiage of choice) and haven’t really looked back! However, I did add an iPad and Procreate into my life around Thanksgiving– so lately I’ve been on a digital lettering and watercolor kick! See below for a few of my favorites 🙂

So Now For the Good Stuff- the Free Printable Calligraphy Practice Sheets
Calligraphy truly has brought so much joy to my life in so many forms. The practice of writing in itself is a slow, meditative process and can truly help to refocus the mind. In addition, I have found such a loving and warm group of people in the calligraphy and lettering community! Through these connections, I began receiving messages requesting calligraphy practice sheets written in my signature style. After I got the iPad, I was able to create my first set of printable traceable sheets based on a favorite Instagram post (by popular vote)! It has been so cool to see others using this worksheet in their own practice!
Soooo, of course, I had to create another one! This new sheet uses the word “unwind.” I felt like it is a good practice word to write a few times in hopes of retraining the brain 😉 We could all use some calm in our lives! So take this sheet and print it on some calligraphy-friendly paper and use with your brush pen, pointed pen, or with faux calligraphy! You can take a screen shot of it and use on procreate as well! I can’t figure out how to attach the procreate file, so if you would like a procreate specific sheet, just let me know below! If we aren’t already instagram friends, I would love to connect with you on there as well! I’m @blueskieslettering, or you can scroll to the bottom of the page and click the link! I would love to see you using the worksheet, so be sure to post your work and tag me or use the hashtag #blueskieslettering!
